Binary Brain

I’m here to focus on the brain.  The brain – my brain, in particular – rules everything about me.  My question is whether or not that brain is solely material or if it there exists a spiritual, etherial man in the machine that rules or influences my material brain.  I used to be convinced of the existence of a spiritual mind and material mind working in tandem with one another (also known as dualism).  I thought there had to be something more than synapses, nerves and chemicals, but the more I learn about philosophy of mind, neuroscience and psychology, the more I realize this isn’t absolutely necessary.  I’d love to be proven wrong.  I wish I could fall back on the unknown of the spiritual world.  This seems far too easy of an out, though…

Herein I will attempt to simply put onto “paper” all kinds of experiences that drive me to think about my own mind.
